The garnet gemstones in the pair I received are a beautiful deep brown/red with a dazzling red flare when they catch the light. The stones are beautiful and clear (that's clear, not colorless).
The settings are expertly crafted, and the bottom prong even looks like a mini heart shape, which I think is an excellent touch. Don't worry about the backs falling off of these earrings, the posts are nice and long, and have a notch in the end to catch the clasp should it inch its way to the end of the post.
One important thing to keep in mind: These are genuine hand-cut gemstones. They are as unique as the person you're buying them for! The stones I received are perfectly matched to each other in quality, color and clarity. The cut of the stones might not be that perfectly rounded heart shape, but don't let that fool you -- since these stones are hand cut, shape variation is normal. Take a step back and view them from a few feet away -- they're beautiful and definitely heart-shaped.
