(More customer reviews)I purchased these earrings for my mother for a gift. She loves cameo-type jewelry and she wears clip-on earrings. She also loves England, English things.
The earrings, imo, do not much look like the photograph.
Firstly - and totally MY fault - I did not read the size correctly. For whatever reason I read the length to be 22 mm. Well, they are not; they are the 35 mm just as stated in the description. So, they are actually quite huge. They are not heavy, but each would be better suited as a pendant or brooch unless the woman wearing them is very tall or large.
Secondly, the photograph depicts earrings, which admittedly costume, look quite classic and "real." These earrings do not. They do look very costume, the antiquing doesn't quite come off as antique. The carving is okay, but being so large, not tremendously detailed. They look much more "plasticky" in person than I imagined they would. I considered not even sending them. *
This being said, I will update my review once my mom actually opens them. It is very possible that she will see them entirely differently being that she has a different feeling about cameo, she may like the large size, and she may not think they look plasticky. Who can tell?
* They are delivered in a mailing bag and are sealed in a small plastic bag with a label that states NOT to open the bag if you intend to return them. The little baggie is bubble wrapped. They did not come in a box, and I was pleasantly surprised that the mail service didn't botch the job and crush them. They were sent Royal Mail. I did not open them, just in case she wants to return them, but it seems hardly worth it as twice shipping would be $10, plus the $5 to send to her from here...almost the cost of the earrings.
Also note that the time from ordering to receiving was 8 calendar days. That's not too bad at all.
The rating of the 3 stars is a balance of product appearance and quality compared to visual picture (fair to low), and accuracy of measurement and shipping time (good). I raised the rating to 4 stars because my mother thought they are beautiful.
UPDATE - My mom loves the earrings - thinks they are "absolutely lovely!" and is quite happy that they are from England (I boxed them up with the Royal Mail envelope because I knew she'd like that.
